Climate Resilience Roundtable
The CCLG in partnership with Constructing Excellence held its first roundtable event on the 21st November, focusing specifically on what climate resilience means for the built environment. Resilience involves a holistic approach to designing, building, and maintaining buildings, infrastructure, and communities that can withstand and adapt to a range of stressors and challenges.
We are experiencing a rapidly changing climate with increases in extreme weather events happening more regularly leading to severe impacts on the built environment including flooding and overheating. Globally assets are increasingly becoming uninsurable as climate change accelerates. This roundtable explored the approaches and mechanisms used to manage resilience currently and the challenges and potential opportunities to proactively address resilience.
A big thank you to Related Argent who hosted the event at their offices in London, and to the CCLG and CE members, including BRE's Climate Resilience expert, who attended and contributed to a lively debate. Outputs from the event will follow soon.
